Lexa is a recurring character in the second, third and seventh seasons. She is played by Alycia Debnam-Carey. She is the commander of the 12 clans. Lexa is the reason the twelve clans united to fight against Mount Weather and without her, the Coalition would be a failure. Before that, the Ice Nation was the biggest threat to the alliance of the twelve clans. Lexa and Clarke soon begin working together to form an alliance to defeat Mount Weather. Lexa grew up in the Woods Clan. Born of Nightblood, or with black blood running through her veins, she is believed to be a reincarnation of the first commander and, as is tradition, was brought to Polis to be taught and trained as a warrior and commander.
